Praise for this book

“Tho it is a children's literature but still I like it. The story is about the mouse "Fionn" who is trying his best to save his land from the "Lord Malus" and his army of rats, Weasels and falcons..

The little warrior try his best to save his land from evils along with his friends. He faced different challenges on his journey of freedom. But did he get rid of evils and free his land??

The story is fast paced and the characters are well developed. There were many plot twists to keep readers hooked. This book holds so many lessons for children the struggles and hardwork of Fionn shows how you can achieve anything if you work hard and the love for ones land.

It's a good read for children from 9-14 age.”

This book is such a wonderful tale. I loved the characters and how the author brought them to life in the pages. The illustrations are great. It’s a must read.

The evil falcon, Malus with his army of falcons, rats and weasels is slowly taking over the homes and lands of the mice, squirrels, badgers, hares, otters and hedgehogs living in Tara. When his uncle and brother are captured, the mouse Fionn sets out to rescue them. This results in an intriguing story full of mystery, suspense, friendships and lots of surprises.
This is a fast-moving story and I loved how honourable, honest and fair Fionn was. He made wise choices and had good values. I enjoyed reading this story.

One can't help but get nostalgic when viewing this story through the eyes of the young protagonist Fionn, a mouse who dreams to be a warrior to save his people. Shades of the most beloved animal protaganists (Stuart Little,...NYMH) on every page. And the illustrations in this book are incredible and such a welcome surprise! The story all delves into some darker tones as well, but with the energy of more serious YA novels (Hunger Games, Ender Series) while being very accessible through this fleshed-out animal fantasy world. The themes of family, conflict, self-sacrifice, and bravery are woven brilliantly across this hero's journey with lots of exciting twists and action along the way. This is a book both my kids and I will enjoy for years to come.

A well told story of heroes and villains in the classic struggle of good versus evil. There are lots of twists and turns to keep the reader hooked throughout. As he embarks on his quest to rescue Fergus and Cael from the evil Lord Malus, little does Fionn know the immensity of the challenges that lie ahead. Highly recommended reading for anyone who enjoys fantasy adventure stories!

My daughter (aged 12) and I read this book and loved the twists and turns of the plot. Magical characters that go on a fantastical journey!! Highly recommended.

As an adult I'm probably not the main target audience for this book, but I enjoyed every second of it. The characters are really well depicted and developed throughout the chapters, and the illustrations just add something extra on top. The plotline keeps moving well, but still has great moments of tension and suspense. Any scary moments are always portrayed in ways that wouldn't traumatise young readers and the book models some very useful values in its main characters.

Altogether a fun read. I would recommend this to anyone who has kids in the age range 9-12 and who love fantasy, adventure or animals.

Great book, bought it for my son who really enjoyed it

Very good story. I enjoyed every minute of it, from start to finish. Colm is a hugely talented writer. And I look forward very much to his next book!!!

Fionn the Reviver is a well-written animal adventure story in the spirit of Brian Jacques, whom the book is dedicated to, but shorter in length (118 pages) than the Redwall books. It is intended for kids and is a great introduction to the animal adventure/fantasy genre. There are 22 chapters, each about 5 pages long, with excellent hand-drawn illustrations and map at the beginning of the book. The story was engaging and held my interest even as an adult; kids will love it!

A charming and fun tale of adventure and excitement! Fionn the Mouse runs away from home to join his father in the great war. But things are not always what they seem, as Fionn meets warriors from far lands.
Will he discover his true past, and his destiny? Read and find out!

The evil falcon lord Malus is on a path of global domination. The other animals need a leader to unite them before they’re overrun by the evil lord’s advancing army.

Fionn is a young mouse who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the mouse army. But he’s too young and still has to finish his training. He knows how desperate the mouse army is and how much they need any help they can get. So he decides to risk it. He steals a boat. And he rushes off to join his father. But he’s only just set off on his journey as he notices his village is under attack. His brother and his uncle are taken. With nothing keeping him home, he continues his journey with more resolve than ever. While he’s on his way, he meets several other animal species, makes some friends and realizes they all share a common enemy.

The plot is pretty straight forward. There are technically some twists in here. You can see them coming from a mile away, but they are rather well done. The characters are quite solid. Though I would have preferred more focus on Fionn the protagonist. There’s a bit too much time spent with Fionn’s brother and uncle, who have been captured. Their point of view just feels a bit redundant and unnecessary at times. Because they’re pretty much there to fill in the blanks that didn’t need to be filled, and repeat a few things from Fionn’s point of view.

This is the second time I’ve read something that was very inspired by Redwall. The first being The Sons of Masguard series by Vivienne Mathews, which I absolutely love. And there’s definitely quite a few things to like about this book as well. So this is pretty much another reminder that I should probably try reading Redwall one of these days.

Thank you so much Colm Hearne for sending me a copy of Fionn the Reviver. This book is so amazing, I don’t know where to start! The author has done an outstanding job in writing such a marvelous tale of Fionn. The author takes you on Fionn’s journey from being an ordinary warrior to the Emperor of Tara. It’s a story of a Leader who had two sons; Fionn and Fergus. The leader and his wife were killed by their greatest enemy; Malus. Cael, the uncle of Fionn and Fergus, takes the responsibility of taking care of both his nephews and trains Fionn to become a great warrior. One day, Fionn gets tired of his everyday training and runs away to fight the grand battle against Malus. He embarks on this dangerous journey in full courage and high spirits. On his journey he faces many hardships, ups and downs, hopelessness, but most importantly he makes new friends. One thing that I love the most about this book is that the author has portrayed teamwork and friendship in his book - Fionn was able to win the battle with the help of his friends and teamwork instead of just him alone saving the day and being the hero (too cliché). I thoroughly enjoyed all the duels and battles Fionn fought. I love how the author has developed the characters so well, especially Fionn’s character; he’s kindhearted, humble, brave, intelligent and responsible. I love all the other characters - Fergus, Cael, Aidon, the Colonel, Braxvag, Sorcha, and of course Lara. The author has beautifully described the intimate relationship of Fionn and Lara. I highly recommend this book to everyone. This book is so thrilling and action-filled, I’d love to watch a movie on it. All in all, a very well-written piece of work. Thumbs up!

Fionn whose family is taken away by prisoner, Fionn travels to the land of tara where he gets to know true intentions of the evil falcon, lord malus, rats and weasels. Now it’s fionn who saves the land of tara and the villagers. His journey is full of rollercoaster, during fights he becomes stronger than ever, made some new friends.
I love the idea of how author has portrayed, friendship and how teamwork works.
Would definitely want y’all to read this book.

From its opening pages, Colm Hearne’s highly imaginative work of fiction immerses the reader in a vivid world of warriors and conflict. The story introduces its protagonist, Fergus, through the richly realised supporting characters of Cael and Fionn, whose presence helps to establish both the emotional depth and narrative momentum of the novel.

A Legend of Tara: Fionn the Reviver is a charming children’s fantasy filled with adventure, bravery, and heart. The story follows Fionn, a young warrior mouse, as he sets out to save the land of Tara from the evil Lord Malus. I really enjoyed the idea of animals fighting to protect their home and freedom; it made the world feel magical and meaningful.
The plot is quite straightforward, and while some twists were easy to predict, they were still well done and enjoyable. Fionn was an interesting protagonist, especially watching him grow from fear into courage. The supporting characters were nicely written, though at times the story focused a bit too much on side characters when I wanted more of Fionn’s journey.
Even though I’m not the main target audience, I still found this to be a fun and engaging read. The illustration on the cover added so much charm, and the story carries good values like responsibility, courage, and standing up for loved ones. Overall, a sweet and promising fantasy book, especially perfect for kids who love adventure and animal stories.

I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review

Fionn, a young warrior mouse, sets off in search of help after his village is attacked and his family is captured. Their land is under siege by the evil falcon, Malus, and his army. Fionn believes he can ask the residents of the squirrel kingdom for help. His journey is not an easy one and he faces many dangers along the way, but he must help his family.
The story is a charming tale and I liked the idea of these creatures fighting a war for their land and their freedom. Fionn was an interesting character, trying to do his best for the people he loves.
There were some issues with editing - it could use a line edit to make it flow better, along with a few other tweaks. It could be slow at times, but again, easily fixable.
While I am not the target audience, I do think that children would enjoy the story, along with the illustrations. A promising start.

This is an exceptionally adventurous and engaging novel, delivering a thrilling reading experience from start to finish. The character of Fionn, along with his companions, is especially well realised, each developed with care and clarity in a way that makes them immediately appealing and memorable.

Colm Hearne brings a distinctive narrative approach to the story, enhancing its impact and sustaining the reader’s interest throughout. The novel strikes an effective balance between suspense, action, humour, and moments of tension, creating a dynamic pace that makes it difficult to put down. Its compelling writing style ensures that the story unfolds swiftly and smoothly, easily carrying the reader through in just a few sittings.

This is a highly enjoyable and immersive read that leaves a strong impression. It firmly establishes the author as a writer to watch, and it inspires eager anticipation for future works and the next instalment of the story.

Fionn is a small mouse whose life changes when his family is taken away. He leaves his home and travels far to a new land called Tara. Fionn soon learns that a bad falcon leader wants to rule the land and hurt others. Even though he is young and scared, Fionn chooses to be brave. During his journey, he meets new friends, faces many dangers, and learns how to stand up for what is right. Fionn grows stronger and more determined to save his family and protect Tara.
This book is short but exciting, with a clear storyline and strong themes of courage and friendship. The animal characters are interesting and easy to connect with. It’s a fast read that feels adventurous and enjoyable, especially for readers who like simple fantasy stories.

Honestly, I had a great time with A Legend of Tara: Fionn the Reviver. It's one of those classic fantasy adventures that just feels good to read like a cozy blanket in book form. Sure, you can see some of the plot points coming from a mile away, but it's done so well that you don't really mind. The world is charming, and the animal characters are so much fun the grumpy badger and the dramatic hare colonel were my favorites, and they totally carried some scenes. It doesn't try to be anything groundbreaking, but if you're looking for a straightforward, heartwarming story with some solid sword fights and a really epic final battle, this is a perfect pick.

This story is a charming, fast-paced adventure that’s easy to fall in love with. Fionn is a brave and relatable hero, and his journey from frightened mouse to destined warrior feels both exciting and heartfelt. The land of Tara is richly imagined, filled with danger, loyalty, and hope, while Lord Malus makes for a truly menacing villain. The mix of high-stakes action, meaningful friendships, and themes of courage and family keeps the story engaging from start to finish. It’s a classic quest tale with a fresh, animal-fantasy twist that will especially delight readers who enjoy epic journeys, heroic destinies, and characters worth cheering for.
